These past few years have emphasized the importance of health, both physical and mental, and the overall need for wellness in the workplace. Being a great leader, contributor, colleague, and friend requires energy, presence, and health.
Here are five ways to prioritize your wellbeing:
- Spend time working on, not just in, your role
- Examine where you spend your time and if you are managing it successfully.
- Collaborate with colleagues to find synergies and efficiencies.
- Learn about the Priority Matrix and experiment this week.
- Incorporate self-care into your workday (just not after)
- Clean and organize your workspace.
- Hang up art or pictures that inspire you. Bring in a plant.
- Be disciplined about holding time for eating well and exercising.
- Develop and/or maintain supportive, balanced relationships. Be mindful of people and activities that energize vs. drain you and adjust accordingly where possible.
- Embrace a resilient mindset
- Reframe challenges by asking “what would this look like if it were easy?”.
- Be cautious jumping too quickly to autopilot without considering an alternative approach.
- Actively seek feedback and support from your colleagues and supervisor.
- Get back in touch with your why.
- Reflect on what initially drew you to your role within the organization.
- Consider what drives you to do what you do. Incorporate this as motivation into your daily or weekly work.
- Practice gratitude and have fun!
- You are surrounded by committed and talented professionals.
- Who and what are you grateful for in your organization?
- Enjoy the work you do and how you drive the purpose and mission of the company.
